Job Summary: The Kitchen Helper supports the kitchen staff in all aspects of food preparation and kitchen maintenance. This role involves assisting with ingredient preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the efficient operation of the kitchen. The ideal candidate is reliable, hardworking, and eager to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients.
- Prepare and portion ingredients for use by cooks and chefs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure all kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment are kept clean and sanitary.
- Receive, unpack, and store deliveries of food and supplies, ensuring proper storage conditions.
- Dispose of waste and recyclables according to kitchen procedures.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down kitchen stations before and after service.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards to maintain a hygienic kitchen environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Food Handler’s certification or similar credentials.
