Role:
The Internal Auditor / Accountant will conduct internal audits, identify risks, and recommend improvements to enhance internal controls and processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for upholding the highest financial management standards.
Functions:
· Perform internal audits on financial transactions (purchasing, costings, etc).
· Evaluate risk areas and recommend improvements.
· Ensure compliance with financial policies and standards.
· Conduct profitability analysis on products and services.
· Prepare weekly management reports, dashboards, and commentary.
· Monitor and analyse operational costs.
· Maintain standard cost systems and track cost deviations.
· Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
· Translate complex data into actionable strategies for non-finance teams.
· Facilitate financial training or awareness for operational units.
· Work closely with operations and shop managers to provide financial insight.
· Support digital transformation efforts (e.g., dashboards, BI tools).
· Maintain the integrity of ERP/finance systems used for reporting.
· Coordination of cash from shop reconciliations
· Coordination of monitoring systems (including CCTV)
· Assist in the preparation of audits
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in auditing and/or accounting in the FMCG sector
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles, audit standards, and financial reporting.
· Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· High level of integrity and attention to detail.
· Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); experience with accounting software SAGE.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills (including in Maltese).
