Role Overview
The Internal Audit Clerk will support the internal audit function by conducting checks, verifying controls, and providing assurance that our stores and head office processes are compliant, efficient, and secure. This is an excellent entry-level role for candidates looking to build a career in accounting or auditing within a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in performing routine internal audits across retail outlets and administrative departments.
· Verify store cash reconciliation, sales records, and inventory levels for accuracy and compliance.
· Review and document internal controls, reporting weaknesses or irregularities.
· Examine stock counts and related reconciliations.
· Examine purchase records, invoices, and supplier documentation for accuracy.
· Prepare and maintain audit working papers in a timely and organized manner.
· Monitor compliance with company procedures, cash handling policies, and inventory control.
· Assist in following up on audit findings and recommend corrective actions.
· Support the internal auditor/accountant in compiling regular reports for management.
· Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical auditing standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Diploma or Advanced Level (A-Levels) in Accounts, Business, or related field.
· Strong attention to detail and basic numerical and analytical skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable using ERP/accounting software.
· Able to work independently and travel between stores when needed.
· Fluent in English and preferably Maltese (spoken and written).
· Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
